Belisle Foot Snare for Sophisticated Wildlife Capture
Darcy Alkerton is a world leader in the use of the Belisle Foot Snare. His expertise with the foot snare has allowed him to travel the world to use the foot snare and teach others on its positive capabilities. The Belisle Foot Snare’s unique design allows animals to be caught without sustaining any damage to the foot. It also allows non target wildlife, such as deer to be released unharmed.
Darcy has used the foot snare in conjunction with the Toronto Wildlife Centre to trap and treat grey wolves in Northern Ontario for mange. He has also used it a countless number of times in Ontario to trap Red Fox, Coyote, Lynx, Grey Wolves and Black Bears. Darcy has used the Belisle Foot Snare many times to trap urban Coyotes and Grey Wolves for tracking collar studies with MNRF scientist Brent Patterson.
As a leader in the use of this snare, Darcy traveled to Australia to demonstrate and trap Red Fox with the foot snare. His knowledge of wildlife control methods makes him a sought after trainer all over the world. He has traveled across Canada, Indiana, Nevada and Virginia to teach wildlife control professionals how to properly use the Belisle Foot Snare. He has travelled to Texas many times, demonstrating the snare to trap Grey Fox, Coyote, Bobcats and Wild Hogs. His sons, Wildlife Technicians Matt and Cory, have also assisted in teaching, training and trapping with the Belisle Foot Snare.
In April of 2018, Darcy, Matt, Cory and Benoit Belisle, owner of the Belisle Enterprises, travelled to Hungary to teach Gamekeepers, Wildlife Biologists and University Students from Hungary, Austria and Romania, the proper use of the Belisle Footsnare. The intended target species in these countries were European Red Fox, European Badger and Golden Jackal. The trip was a tremendous success, much was learned on the alternative methods for wildlife management and control.
